I DID IT! My first YouTube Video!

Yep…it did it…i took the plunge! I’ve allways thought it would be fun to make videos for youtube but I was allways too scared. I think that blogging has eliminated some of the fear. My first video is about the hair that I have installed. I love watching hair reviews and tutorials so I decided to make my own. I’m still kind of nervous about what other people will think about it. I know I have plenty of room for improvement but it’s just the start! Tell me what you guys think!

Beauty: First Full Face!

IMG_2343Well I finally put all that makeup I got during cyber monday to good use. I’m no professional but I don’t think I did half bad! My only complaint would have to be the foundation. I think I may need a slightly darker shade, or instead of mixing the two shades I’ll just stick with the darker of the two. If you didn’t see my post on it, the foundation I used was the Maybelline Fit Me in colors 330 and 340. 330 is the lighter shade.

Two other products I used that I haven’t mentioned in any of my posts are the powder  and concealer. To set the foundation I used the Ben Nye Translucent Face Powder in Topaz. Yes, I had to hop on the Ben Nye craze. For those who don’t know, the Ben Nye Banana Powder is what Kim Kardashian revealed that she uses to achieve the perfect highlight. What’s so amazing about the banana powder is that it compliments practically ANY skin tone. I’m a beginner so I decided to stay away from the banana powder because I didn’t want to end up looking like a complete ghost. I do plan to add it to my collection later. I did attempt some highlighting and contouring but clearly I need a bit more practice. To highlight I used the LA Girl’s HD Pro conceal in the color Fawn. Again I learned about these on YouTube. LA Girl’s products are sold in stores like Family Dollar, or any local Beauty Supply store, therefore I was shocked when MUA’s that use high-end products like MAC were raving about these concealers. They retail for no more than $2, maybe $2.50 at the most and come in a wide variety of shades, including darker shades for women of color. I snagged three colors from a seller on eBay. To blend out the concealer I used a little egg-shaped sponge that I got off eBay as well. The original sponge like this is called the Beauty Blender but I got two  dupes for it for less than $3. I’ll be sure to list where to find each of these items.

On my eyes I used my BH Cosmetics 120 Pallete (2nd Edition), and on my lips I have an e.l.f. moisturizing lipstick in Ravishing Rose. I am IN LOVE with this color! I’ll probably wear it almost every day.

There was one other issue that I had that is  probably not related to the makeup. A couple of hours after wearing the makeup my skin was a bit oily in my t zone and especially on my cheeks. I have oily skin and I am trying out a new skin care regimen that may need some adjusting. I’ll post about my skin care routine also. I plan to keep practicing and hopefully my work will improve. Visit my post about my E.L.F. Cyber Monday Haul to see all the e.l.f. products I used. Here’s a list of where you can find the other items.

Beauty: E.L.F. Cyber Monday Haul!

To start off my makeup journey, I took advantage of Cyber Monday 2013. One website that I was dying to purchase from was eyeslipsface.com or e.l.f. for short. E.L.F. is another “budget friendly” brand that I happen to love. You can find E.L.F. products at stores like Target, or even Dollar Tree. My first purchase from E.L.F. was their eyelid primer. I was beginning to experiment with eye makeup so most of my products were very low-end with little pigmentation. I wanted my eye-shadow to last longer but wasn’t ready to dish out the cash to buy “high-end” primers like the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I ran across the E.L.F. primer in a local dollar tree and made the purchase. I was in LOVE! It stopped my eye-shadow from creasing and helped lighter shades show up better. But that was just the beginning.

For their Cyber Monday Sale, E.L.F. had a 50% off sitewide sale with free shipping on orders over $35. My main purpose in purchasing from their site was to get their 11 Piece Studio Brush Set, however, I decided to take advantage of the deal! In all I purchased $70 dollars worth of makeup for $35! Here’s a list of the items I purchased.

Eye Widener – White

Moisturizing Lipstick – Cheeky

Baked Bronzer – Los Cabos

Mineral Infused Face Primer – Clear

Precision Liquid Eyeliner – Black

Moisturizing Lipstick – Ravishing Rose

High Definition Powder – Translucent

Brush Shampoo

Eyebrow Kit – Dark

Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder – Antigua

Makeup Mist & Set

Daily Brush Cleaner

11 Piece Brush Collection

It’s all scheduled to arrived Wednesday and I cant wait to do a review on each item for you. I may be difficult to do an entire post on all these items without it being super lengthy but I’ll try to make it work. I am trying to get a camera for Christmas and I’m thinking about making YouTube videos of my own. But until then, definitely check out eyeslipsface.com. They are doing what they are calling the ” e.l.f. days of Xmas” and there are 5 days left! Hurry before the deals are gone!

Beauty: BH Cosmetics

image (10) This year I made the decision to step up my makeup game, and learn how to do makeup like the pros. I’ve been watching makeup tutorials on YouTube since 10th grade and it’s very common to see many of the gurus using or reviewing the same product. One product that I kept seeing over and over was the 120 eye-shadow palette from BH Cosmetics. It was appealing because it was beginner friendly, but gave professional results. The 120 Palettes are budget friendly costing no more than $20 each. I snagged mine on Cyber Monday for $11.50! image (11)Often times cheaper eye-shadow lacks in pigmentation, but these palettes show otherwise. The colors are vibrant and show up well with or without a primer. There are about 5 editions of the 120 palette and I chose the 2nd edition. To me this palette had the perfect mix of mattes and shimmers, as well as brights and neutrals. I just received my palette last week so I haven’t spent much time with it, however, as I use it more and it becomes part of my everyday routine ill be back with an update.
