Beauty: Wash n’ Go Tutorial 4b/4c Hair

I have taken an EXTREMELY long hiatus from my blog, as well as YouYube. I’m ashamed because I was just getting started! But I recently graduated and I’m on summer break so I have no excuse.

To give you a bit of an update I FINALLY did the big chop! Since then I’ve cut my hair again and I’m rocking a high top fade Grace Jones/Kid style lol. I don’t wear it picked out often, and I actually prefer to wear my hair in a curly state. When I first cut it I tried the twist outs, and braid outs, and bantu knot outs and to be honest I didn’t like it. I actually like my hair in a shrunken state rather than stretched. With that being said the Wash n’ go became my best friend!

Now it sounds like I just get out of the shower and head out the door but that’s not exactly the case. It involves some gel to define the curls and a bit of drying time so If you have somewhere to go you better do this early! I use to use a diffuser to dry my hair but I’ve found that letting my hair air dry produces the best results. Instead of typing out step by step exactly what I do, I’ve made a video to show you guys! Check it out!

I DID IT! My first YouTube Video!

Yep…it did it…i took the plunge! I’ve allways thought it would be fun to make videos for youtube but I was allways too scared. I think that blogging has eliminated some of the fear. My first video is about the hair that I have installed. I love watching hair reviews and tutorials so I decided to make my own. I’m still kind of nervous about what other people will think about it. I know I have plenty of room for improvement but it’s just the start! Tell me what you guys think!

Beauty: I’ve Found The Cure!

I’ve…..been….CURED!!! Lol, I’m sure you want to know what the heck I’m talking about soooo…..I’ve been cured of cake face!!!!! By cake face I mean the gross appearance my makeup takes on at the end of the day after having worn makeup all day and my pores have made my face the site of the next great oil spill in America -_- . I have very oily skin and once I started wearing makeup I realized that oily skin and makeup does not mix. I’m still fairly new to the makeup game so I was in a panic! I was planning to change my foundation (Maybelline Fit Me), I was seeking out new facial cleansers, and I gave up on my primer (ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer)! I turned to YouTube for a miracle cure to oily skin while wearing makeup and found this….

milkofmagnesia

Say hello to my new face primer! This stuff is a God send! All the ladies on YouTube were spot on when they said this stuff worked. I didn’t even get name brand, I just grabbed a bottle from my local Dollar Tree. Before I apply my makeup I still make sure to cleanse my face and apply moisturizer. Next I take my finger and rub some milk of magnesia on my cheeks and in my t-zone cause those are the areas that tend to get oily. Once it dries I apply my makeup as usual and head out! I get ready for school at about 10am and when I get home at about 9pm there is no oil slick on my face. I had went and bought blotting papers to control the oil and I honestly have had no need for them. Here are some pictures of my face on Monday at about 2pm and at about 10:30 after I got home from work.

Most inexpensive face primer ever you guys! Have any of you tried it, or plan to? Comment below and let me know!

Fashion: OOTD Rainbow Maize

IMG_0150

Finally, here’s my OOTD for that Rainbow Maize Sweatshirt I was raving about from forever 21. I had in my mind exactly what I wanted to wear it with, those black leggings, but the weather has been foiling my plans! It was like 35 F yesterday but I was determined to wear it so I wore two pairs of leggings, lol.

I paired it with this charm bracelet I got from Rainbow and my Spiked Lita Dupes I got from Urbanog.com. They don’t have them on their website anymore but there’s plenty of places you can find them by now. I’ll add a link at the bottom of this post. Here’s some more pics my boyfriend took for me.

Beauty: Mac Dupes!!!

20140122-201846.jpg

This post is about my latest makeup obsession….lipstick! It all started with my search to find the perfect red and the perfect bright pink for my skin tone. I would watch youtube videos and one color I saw all the guru’s using was Candy Yum Yum by MAC. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quite ready to spend that much money on lipstick. One day I will become a MAC girl and have PLENTY of MAC products but I’m new to the makeup game and personally I feel that it’s not the brand that guarantees a beautiful beat, it’s how you apply the products. Drugstore brands can give you the same effect as high end products if you apply them right. Once I learn the tips and tricks to master a flawless face, then I’ll move on to MAC.

In the meantime I’m all about dupes! I can’t afford MAC so i’ll take the next best thing. I found this picture on Instagram and I’m super excited to go out and buy them ALL!!! Lol, not at once but eventually they’ll all be mine! I already have one color on the list, and that’s Wet n’ Wild Sugar Plum Fairy. I got it this fall when I was looking for great vampy shades to wear during the season. Its a dupe for MAC Rebel. Another MAC product that I was DYING to get my hands on was the Nightmoth lipliner. It seemed like EVERYONE had it, and it looked great with all the red and plum shades. I finally found a dupe for it which I plan to purchase and thats the Revlon Colorstay Lipliner in Vixen. Hopefully I can get my hands on all of these lippies-i’ll search high and low! Tell me what you think about cosmetic dupes!

Fashion: OOTD Alpha Wolf

Today’s OOTD features one of the new tops I got in my previous shopping haul post. It was raining practically all day today and I almost didn’t get any shots but thankfully it stopped just in time to get these and a few others. I haven’t found a good indoor location yet, plus I just prefer the natural lighting. The wolf on my shirt looks right at home in the woods don’t you think? 🙂 Here’s where you can find these or similar items.

Fashion: Plato’s Closet, Rainbow, and Forever 21 HAUL!

I haven’t done as much shopping as I would like lately so I waited until I had a decent amount of items to share before I posted. First up, Plato’s Closet!

If you’ve never heard of Plato’s Closet here’s how they describe the store on their website..

“At Plato’s Closet® you’ll find a huge selection of trendy, designer styles as well as those every day basics you can’t live without – all at up to 70% off mall retail prices!

Most of our stores buy and sell girls sizes 0/1 to 15/16 and guys size 28 to 40 waist. Please contact your local store for more details.

We’re not your typical secondhand clothing store. The gently used clothing and accessories that we buy are: top-name brands, cool, hip, trendy, clean and in good condition. Typically we buy items that have been in the retail stores within the past 12 to 18 months and are current teen and young adult styles still seen in the mall.”

This first item is an olive-green knit hooded pullover by Ralph Lauren. It’s very thin so its ideal for layering. It is a size small but it has a very loose fit perfect for wear over leggings or skinny jeans. I’ll most likely pair this with my distressed high-waisted jeans, my black combat boots, and perhaps a gray infinity scarf. I snagged this piece for only $20!

This next piece is from Plato’s Closet as well but the brand is Forever 21. Now, my goal on this shopping trip was to buy more long-sleeved tops and sweaters, however, I have an affinity for flowy chiffon tops and I couldn’t let this one slide. This is a chain print chiffon high-low top. This print is very trendy, and I admit I like trends, so I had to grab it. I snagged this top for only $4!

This geometric chiffon top by New York and Company could NOT stay in that store. When I saw it I knew exactly what I would wear it with…even though I don’t have the items in my wardrobe. I would love to pair this top with a pair of black high-waisted ankle length dress slacks and pointed toe heels or flats. Add a blazer and its perfect business attire. this top was $8.

This yellow studded collar chiffon top drove me insane! I knew I needed to lay off the chiffon tops but this one was calling my name! I finally decided to put it back and to told my best friend it would most likely haunt me in my dreams. Since she’s so awesome she decided to buy it for me to make up for the sweater she didn’t get me for christmas. The color says it’s made for spring so I’ll most likely wait until spring to wear it. It’s my favorite find at Plato’s Closet. She bought it for $10!

This last Plato’s Closet find is actually not for me, it’s a mens Lacoste pullover I bought for my boyfriend. He’s not obsessed with fashion like me but he does want to revamp his wardrobe so I thought I’d help out. It’s very form-fitting and is great to throw on when heading out to class or to town instead of grabbing a frumpy hoodie. I got this for $20!

The grand total after all theses purchases was……$26.70!!!!! Unbelievable right?!?! I was able to get such a great discount by brining in a few items of my own to sell and I had a 20% off discount card that you get when you shop Plato’s Closet. It has 20 spots on the back that you get stamped every time you make a $10 purchase. I had finally filled mine up and that’s how I got to use it. If you have never been to Plato’s Closet I STRONGLY advise you to go. Check online for one near you! Next up is Rainbow!

At my local Rainbow clothing store they’re having their winter clearance sale and all items on clearance are buy one get one free. Select jewelry was buy one get one free as well. I found these cute tops, and I thought the jewelry was very trendy so I had to get those as well. The top with the wolf I remember seeing something like it in forever 21 so I thought it was a nice trade to get if for free! I lost my receipt but I remember my total being $20 and some change. You can shop online too at www.rainbowshops.com

Last but CERTAINLY not least is Forever 21. Although I only got one item, it’s by far my favorite!

I GOT THE SWEATER!!!! I ordered it online and it came in the mail this past saturday. I’m so excited to wear it! expect an OOTD from it this week!

Fashion: OOTD Feminine Edge

The focus of this OOTD is the beautiful floral print on this sweater! I found this in my local Rainbow outlet on Black Friday. It actually wasn’t on sale but I had to have it. It was only about $16 so that wasn’t bad either. Floral is a very feminine print but the loose fit of the sweater, and the fact that it’s black just screamed “Style Me Edgy!” I paired it with a pair of acid wash jeggings, black combat boots, and that gold necklace that has been in practically every outfit I’ve posted, lol. I’m telling you, I need more jewelry!

Beauty: FOTD

Today’s face is  my go to everyday look. Some people may not like a smokey eye using black eyeshadow for everyday wear, but it’s just my favorite look. Not too much highlighting or contouring going on today either. Lately I’ve noticed that about an hour or two after I apply my makeup my face gets really oily around my t-zone, and I believe it has to do with my skin care regimen. Today I made a little adjustment by using witch hazel to clean and tone my face before I apply my primer and 3 hours later still no oil! Here’s the products I used to create this look.

Face:

e.l.f Mineral Infused Face Primer

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (Color 340)

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal (Fawn)

Ben Nye Translucent Face Powder (Topaz)

e.l.f. High Definition Powder (Translucent)

e.l.f. Baked Bronzer (Los Cabos)

Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder (Antigua)

Eyes:

e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit (Dark)

e.l.f. Eyelid Primer

Bh Cosmetics 120 Palette (2nd Edition)

e.l.f. Precision Liquid Eyeliner
